Apple Watch Series 7 to come in new 41mm & 45mm sizes, leaker suggests
Apple’s new Apple Watch Series 7 may come in two new sizes, according to leaker UnclePan on Chinese social network Weibo (via MacRumors), who suggests Apple could introduce new 41mm & 45mm sizes for the next-generation wearable.
The leaker, who has shared reliable information in the past, said in a short post on Monday “I vaguely feel that the two models of Apple Watch Series 7 this year are 41mm and 45mm,” adding that the new models will likely be compatible with older Apple Watch straps.
The Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to get a faster processor, improved wireless connectivity, and an updated screen, with Bloomberg reporting that Apple has several new health-related features in development, including a body temperature feature originally intended to launch this year.
If Apple were to increase the size of the Apple Watch this year, it would mark the second time the wearable has had a bump in size, with the last time being with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 4 in 2018 that saw the sizes jump from 38mm and 42mm to 40mm and 44mm. All Apple Watch bands, including those released with the original Apple Watch, are still compatible with today’s latest models, so UnclePan’s post would suggest Apple intends to continue this, even with yet another increased display.
Last week we saw CAD renders claiming to offer an early look at the rumored new flat-edge design coming to this year’s new Apple Watch, with leaker Jon Prosser previously sharing concepts showing what the device will probably look like.
