iPhone 13 reportedly launching third week of September
Apple will reportedly launch the iPhone 13 during the third week of September, with a new 1TB storage tier expected to be introduced for the high-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, according to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives.
In a new investor’s note shared this week, Wedbush forecasts that suppliers will produce between 130m-150m devices during the second half of the year, with 35%-45% of those representing builds during Q3, which would point to the iPhone 13 launching on schedule in September, following a late launch of the current-generation models last year caused by the pandemic.
To date all reputable sources have eyeballed September as the month Apple will announce its next-generation iPhone lineup, which is expected to comprise of four devices including a 6.1-inch iPhone 13, 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Our recent Asia supply chain checks for 2H put iPhone builds between 130M-150M. The iPhone 13 appears to represent 35%-45% of iPhone builds in Q3, this positive outlook gives us enhanced confidence that 2021’s launch timing will be “normal.” From a timing perspective, we believe the current iPhone 13 launch is slated for the third week in September.
Unlike last year when Apple gave the iPhone a full refresh with an iPhone 4-style squared-edged design, this year’s four new models are expected to have relatively minor visual changes compared to the current iPhone 12 lineup, with more significant changes rumored for next year’s iteration.

Rumors suggest Apple will give all four new models improved displays, larger batteries and a smaller notch. For the high-end Pro models, it is expected Apple will introduced enhanced camera capabilities, including Portrait Mode video for the first time.
As part of Wedbush’s note to investors, the firm said it believes Apple will offer a 1TB storage tier for the high-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, doubling the current highest storage tier of 512GB.
