Gurman expects iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, new AirPods, and more to launch this fall
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman is out with his weekly Power On newsletter, this week sharing what he expects we’ll see from Apple in fall, including the launch of the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, new AirPods, a redesigned iPad mini, and more.
Apple’s next special event is expected to take place in September when we will likely see the launch of the next iPhone, which Gurman says will be a “classic Apple S model,” echoing many of the reports we’ve seen over recent months, including that the devices will all feature the same screen sizes as the current iPhone 12 lineup, pro-focused camera upgrades, a smaller notch, and improved displays.
Gurman reports that the next Apple Watch, dubbed the Apple Watch Series 7, will see a “bit of a redesign,” likely with a faster processor, improved wireless connectivity, and an updated screen, alongside a flat-edged design similar to that seen on the iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.
Also expected to launch in the fall is Apple’s long-rumored next-generation AirPods, which are rumored to boast an overall smaller shape and shrunken stem design, similar to that seen on the AirPods Pro.
Previous reports have claimed that the new AirPods will feature the same Apple H1 chip and 5 hours of playback as the current-generation model. Despite the similar appearance to the AirPods Pro, the new third-generation AirPods are expected to lack interchangeable ear tips and Active Noise Cancellation.
While the latter most likely won’t come until after the launch of the iPhone 13, Gurman also reports that in fall we will likely see Apple unveil redesigned MacBook Pro models with the next-generation M-series processors in both 14-inch and 16-inch screen sizes, as well as a redesigned iPad mini, “destined to be an Apple fan favorite with its thinner borders and a complete redesign,” plus a no-frills ninth-generation iPad.
