Apple donating to support Haiti earthquake relief and recovery efforts
Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the iPhone maker will be donating to support the Haiti earthquake relief and recovery efforts after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Caribbean nation over the weekend, killing at least 304 people and injuring almost 2,000.
“Our hearts are with all those in Haiti who are once again facing the consequences of a devastating earthquake,” said Cook in a Tweet on Sunday. “Apple will be donating to assist relief and recovery efforts in the affected communities.”
Pictures from around Haiti show homes destroyed, buildings collapsed and livelihoods ruined. As reported by The Independent, Ariel Henry, the country’s prime minister, said on Saturday that local hospitals, particularly in the city of Les Cayes, were “overwhelmed with wounded, fractured people”.
