LG Best Shops stores in South Korea to begin selling the iPhone in August

LG will reportedly begin selling Apple products including the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch at its LG Best Shops stores in South Korea beginning in August, according to the local Herald Economic Daily, which claims a new agreement will see Apple have its products in LG’s 400 stores across South Korea.
LG announced this year that it was pulling out of the smartphone business, with the company closing its entire mobile unit to focus on other projects. The deal is expected to be limited to sales of the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, with Macs excluded given that LG has its own range of competing hardware, such as its notebook and desktop computer product lines.
Talks between Apple and LG were said to have been suspended following a backlash from small businesses in the country over the potential partnership and to date, there hasn’t been any official confirmation from either LG or Apple that such a partnership is under consideration.
If the plans go ahead, it is expected that Apple will have dedicated pop-up stores inside the 400 LG Best Shops stores, which will either be run by Apple employees or trained LG salespeople.
