Apple planning to open more retail stores, says Deirdre O’Brien
Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of retail says the company is planning to open more brick and mortar retail locations in the future, despite a global decline in physical retail, made worse by the coronavirus.
Speaking with Germany’s Funke Mediengruppe (via Bloomberg), O’Brien said: “On our online site people can learn a lot about the products; in a store they can touch them and get a feel for them. We intend to add more stores.”
While O’Brien didn’t confirm exactly where Apple plans to “add more stores,” it’s possible that the comments to the European publisher could hint at a wider expansion to Apple’s retail locations across Europe, where Apple recently opened its latest store in Rome, Italy last Friday.
Apple has over 500 stores across the world, with over 100 in Europe.
