Apple Watch Series 7 could feature iPhone 12-style flat-edged design and new green color, Prosser suggests
YouTubers Jon Prosser and Sam Kohl have suggested that Apple’s next-generation Apple Watch may feature a flat-edged design similar to that seen with the iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Air, and iPad Pro, saying renders are in development, with Kohl saying he has seen images of the new wearable from a “very highly trusted source.”
In the latest episode of the Genius Bar podcast series, the duo suggest the Apple Watch Series 7 getting a redesign to bring the wearable up to date with the look of Apple’s current products, which have been adopting a squared, flat-edged look with new color options.
Pointing to his Green AirPods Max, Kohl teased the new Apple Watch could come in new colors, clearly suggesting Apple is considering adding to its Apple Watch colored finishes with a green, similar to that seen with the new M1 iMac and 2020 iPad Air.
Respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported late last year that he sees the Apple Watch receiving a redesign in 2021, saying Apple would launch “innovative health management functions and improved form factor design.”
The Apple Watch Series 7, likely launching alongside the iPhone 13 in the fall, may feature blood glucose monitoring technology, potentially boasting optical sensors for a non-invasive blood glucose measuring system that could notify the wearer when there has been a change in their blood sugar levels or assist them in recording data to assist with their care for diabetes.
Touching on the long-awaited next-generation AirPods, the YouTubers said they don’t see the earbuds launching before summer, noting that they are ready to ship, with Kohl saying he doesn’t expect any new hardware to be announced at WWDC next month.
