Phil Schiller says WWDC costs Apple $50m each year
Apple shells out around $50 million each year to host WWDC, according to Apple Fellow Phil Schiller who took to the stand on Monday in Apple’s legal battle against Epic Games.
As reported by Protocol, Schiller said in his testimony that each WWDC confrence, likely refering to the in-person confrences Apple held prior to the coronavirus pandemic, costs Apple a staggering $50 million, saying the cost of the confrence is not charged back to the App Store or factored in its operating costs.
Schiller’s testimony also revealed that Apple plans on opening a new developer center at Apple Park, where app makers can seek support from Apple when building their applications. Few details were shared on the lab, or when it may open.
Another tibit included in the trial is that Apple has a dedicated team of 5,000 staff working on Apple refunds.
