iPhone 12 the most popular in the main lineup, with strong sales for the Pro and Pro Max
Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed in the company’s Financial Results Conference Call for Q2 2021 that the iPhone 12 is the most popular model in the main iPhone lineup, with strong sales for the high-end Pro and Pro Max devices.
Apple doesn’t report specific unit sales data, so we don’t know exactly how many iPhones Apple has sold during Q2 2021, covering the months of January, February, and March, however, Apple announced the product category revenue set a March record, growing 66% year over year, with performance consistently strong across the world, seeing Apple’s active install base hit an all-time high.
As a whole, the quarter saw iPhone revenue set a March record, growing 66% year over year with 660-million paying customers across all of its Services, an increase of 40 million paid subscribers, up 145 million from a year ago.
When asked about the iPhone during the company’s live Q&A, Cook said “iPhone 12 is the most popular, but we did see very strong sales of the Pro portion of the family as well. So the revenue that you’re seeing is a function of unit growth and revenue-per-unit growth.”
Last week, Apple announced that it was adding to its iPhone 12 line with the launch of a new purple-colored iPhone, which will be released on Friday following pre-orders a week ago.
