Analyst claims 5G coming to iPhone SE next year, new hole-punch display launching in 2023
Apple will reportedly update the iPhone SE next year by bringing 5G to the device, ahead of a substantial update in 2023 that will bring a punch-hole display design, according to display analyst Ross Young.
In a tweet today, Young offered an insight into what he is hearing from sources relating to the next two iPhone SE updates, pointing to the device getting 5G in the same 4.7-inch design as the current-generation model introduced last April and an interesting hole-punch design for future models.
Apple was first rumored to be considering bringing punch-hole displays to the iPhone by respected industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last month, suggesting Apple may take a leaf out of Samsung’s book with an iPhone that looks similar to the Galaxy A71, with the front-facing camera in a small circle in the device’s display, looking like a punch-hole on a piece of paper.
Apple LCD iPhone leak, we now hear the next LCD iPhone SE will remain at 4.7" in 2022. Some rumors that it may have 5G with Sub-6 GHz as well. Also hearing about a 6.1" version in 2023 with punch hole rather than a notch.

Young suggests there will be no iPhone SE refresh this year.
Separate rumors have pointed to Apple researching a larger “iPhone SE Plus” that would look similar to the iPhone 8 Plus, boasting a 6.1-inch, larger battery and a new camera system with two lenses.
