International Air Transport Association to launch COVID passport app for iPhone
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has announced plans to launch a COVID passport app for iPhone next month, which will show test results and vaccination certificates for international travellers.
As reported by Reuters, the app is still in the testing phase after it had initially been planned to launch in March.
UK-based airline Virgin Atlantic has said it will trial the new IATA app on its London to Barbados route from April 16, with Barbados officials using the app rather than paper documentation to certify travellers are clear of the coronavirus at the boarder.
IATA Regional Vice President for Africa and the Middle East Kamil Alawadhi said the industry body hopes to have the app available around April 15 for iPhone users, with an Android version launching at a later date.
