Space Gray HomePod unavailable in US from online Apple Store

Apple may be about to reveal an updated HomePod, with the online Apple Store in the United States showing the Space Gray model of the voice-activated Siri speaker as unavailable for delivery.
First spotted by French site Consomac, the Space Gray HomePod is currently unavailable across the US, which could either point to Apple updating the speaker later this month at its rumored March 2021 event, or possibly supply shortages affecting stock flowing into the country.
Elsewhere in the world, Apple.com is showing both the Space Gray and White HomePod as available to purchase without any delays or lengthily shipping estimates, suggesting that stock shortage are the reason for the speaker being unavailable at this time.
Apple released the HomePod in the United States back in 2017 and has since expanded the speaker to additional countries around the world. The original HomePod has never been updated and lacks some of the features the newer, more affordable HomePod mini has, including the Apple U1 chip.
Given that rumors are pointing to Apple hosting an event on March 23, it doesn’t seem too far fetched for this to be an hint that we may see a new HomePod announced over the coming days however, with the speaker only unavailable at this time in the United States, this may unfortunately be nothing more than logistical issues.
