Apple to add ‘periscopic’ telephoto lens to the iPhone next year, claims report
Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities shared a raft of new iPhone rumors last week, reporting that Apple may adopt a “punch-hole display design” with the 2022 iPhone, a new foldable iPhone could launch the year after and that we won’t see the Lightning connector swapped for a USB-C port in the “foreseeable future.”
Now, Kuo has suggested in a new research note that in 2023, Apple will add a “periscopic telephoto lens” to the iPhone for the first time, upgrading the zoom function on the device to compete more with the likes of Samsung’s latest smartphones, for example, that offers a 100x zoom feature, compared to the max 12x digital zoom on the iPhone.
Additionally, Kuo says Apple’s next iPhone, dubbed the “iPhone 13,” will adopt a “unibody” design to reduce the size of the device’s camera module.
