Foldable iPhone in development, likely “years away” from launch
Apple has foldable iPhone prototypes in development, according to Bloomberg who claim Apple has engineers who have been secretly working on foldable devices to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, saying the device is likely “years away” and “ultimately may never be introduced.”
Foldable iPhones have been rumoured for some time, with concepts from the likes of ConceptsiPhone, who’s visualisation is shown above, imagining how the new device could look at launch.
Apple’s prototype foldable screen has an invisible hinge, Bloomberg says, following the discovery of an official patent filed by Apple last year titled “Electronic devices with flexible displays and hinges,” which described a flexible display that was able to fold and unfold with a hinge mechanism.
Not much else is known about the secret foldable iPhone at this stage but for now, you can watch ConceptsiPhone‘s “iPhone Flip” concept video below.
