Apple rumored to release new 8.4-inch iPad mini in March with slim bezels
Apple is rumored to be preparing a new sixth-generation 8.4-inch iPad mini to launch in March, according to Japanese site Mac Otakara.
The new iPad mini, which will likely launch alongside an updated iPad Pro and possibly a new low-cost iPad, is said to feature a larger 8.4-inch display, up from the 7.9-inch display on the current-generation model.
Mac Otakara reports that the iPad mini will have slimmer bezels and will look similar to the iPad Air 3, which Apple released in 2019, by featuring Touch ID and a Lightning Port. The new device will also likely have a faster A-series chip for improved performance, ensuring the device continues to run future versions of iPadOS for years to come.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard reports of Apple upping the size of its iPad mini. Last year, respected TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple would update the iPad mini with a new display between 8.5-inches and 9-inches during the first half of 2021.
