‘Face ID’ is trending on Twitter. Here’s why
Face ID is trending on Twitter. It appears that some iPhone users are taking to Twitter to debate whether Face ID or Touch ID is the more reliable feature on their devices, with strong arguments in favour and against the facial authentication method.
Apple introduced Face ID with the iPhone X in 2017. The feature scans a user’s face to unlock their iPhone, replacing Touch ID which used a user’s fingerprint to do the same.
Face ID has since been introduced on the iPad Pro, but that’s not to say it’s the better way of unlocking. With millions around the world required to wear face masks amid the coronavirus pandemic, which blocks Face ID from working, as it requires a clear facial scan, it seems some users are missing Touch ID.
My Touch ID would work 6/10 times. Face ID 10/10 times. https://t.co/SnvFeAtAcM

Rumors have suggested Apple is exploring ways to bring Touch ID back to the iPhone to work alongside Face ID, with leakers suggesting the Touch ID sensor on future devices could be embedded within the iPhone’s display.
