Apple waiving £69 iPhone Upgrade Program enrolment fee in England
Apple has relaunched the iPhone Upgrade Program in England today with the reopening of its retail stores in the country. As a way of thanks to customers who have been unable to upgrade because of the closures, Apple is waiving the upfront £69 re-enrolment fee.
The iPhone Upgrade Program allows members to pay installments towards the cost of the latest iPhone, with the option to upgrade each year to a new model, with AppleCare+ included for one monthly fee. Prices start from £38.95 per month for the iPhone 12 mini, with Apple usually requiring an upfront payment upon collection of the new device in-store.
When asked, an Apple employee told The Apple Post that this was a “special thanks to customers for their patience and understanding” during the closures. It isn’t clear for how long Apple will continue to waive the upgrade fee.

Apple paused the iPhone Upgrade Program ahead of pre-orders for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max last month, advising customers already enrolled in the program that they would have to either wait for the lockdown in the country to be lifted before upgrading to a new iPhone, or to pay off their loan for their current iPhone on the program and trade that device for money off one of the new iPhone 12 models.
Apple appears to have held back stock specifically for iPhone Upgrade Program members, with iPhone models widely available now for same-day pickup across the country.
