Apple releases 14.2 HomePod update with new Siri features and Intercom support
Apple is rolling out a new update for the HomePod, bringing added Siri features, Intercom support, and more.
Released alongside iOS 14.2, users can now ask their HomePod “What’s my update?” to hear a personal snapshot of their day that includes the news, weather, traffic, reminders, and calendar appointments.
Today’s new update adds Intercom support, which was first shown off last month at Apple’s “Hi, Speed” special event. Intercom allows users to quickly send voice messages to other HomePods around the home. The Intercom feature also works with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and CarPlay, so messages can be listened to when out and about.
The update adds the ability to connect a HomePod to an Apple TV for stereo, surround sound, and Dolby Atmos audio.
