Apple warns MagSafe Charger can cause imprints on iPhone 12 cases
Apple has noted in the fine print of a support document that the MagSafe Charger for iPhone may cause circular imprints on leather cases over time, suggesting the use of a non-leather case to those “concerned” about the potential marks.
Apple explains that the force of the magnets on the MagSafe Charger connecting with the magnets built-in to the iPhone could compress the leather to an extent which could cause a circular imprint on the back of the accessory, sharing some further guidance on how to ensure the MagSafe Charger does not interfere with magnetic strips or RFID chips.
Reports have also suggested that the MagSafe Charger can leave marks on silicone cases, though Apple is yet to officially acknowledge the potential imprints the charger could cause on other accessories.
Apple’s new Leather cases for the iPhone 12 are set to launch on Friday, with a video shared today offering our first hands-on look at the cases for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
