Inside Apple’s distribution center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania
Apple has shared rare images from within its secret distribution center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania as teams begin to ship iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPad Air orders to customers on launch day.
The warehouse dispatches orders placed across Canada and the East Coast of the US, according to Apple, as well as supplying Apple Stores with their inventory.
Apple has also shared images of the UPS Worldport in Louisville, Kentucky, UPS’s worldwide air hub, showing logistics teams unloading air freighters and preparing devices to be shipped across the globe.
Despite keeping the majority of the distribution center hidden away, the images offer a glimpse at Apple’s facility, showing pallets of devices stacked high on shelving and trays of iPhones and iPads waiting to be picked, packaged, and shipped.
Staff package orders on workstations equipped with iMacs, from which they check orders, print shipping labels, and prepare devices for their onward journey to be delivered to customers.
Apple and UPS allowed cameras inside their air hub once before for the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, showing products traveling along conveyor belts as the devices get ready to reach their customers, as well as showing Apple’s ultra top-secret pre-order ‘War Room’ – a nondescript location in Sunnyvale, California where the Apple Retail team gather on pre-order day to prepare Apple.com and the Apple Store app for the influx in orders.
Additionally, Apple has shared images of customers in-store as they celebrate the launch of the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPad Air.
