HomePod & HomePod mini can’t be connected to make a stereo pair
Apple has introduced the HomePod mini, a smaller $99 version of its main HomePod speaker.
Following yesterday’s announcement, The Loop‘s Jim Dalrymple answered a question Apple left unanswered during its event, whether or not the HomePod can be paired with the HomePod mini to create a stereo pair.
Dalrymple revealed that you can’t make a stereo pair of a HomePod and a HomePod mini, although a stereo pair can be made of two HomePods or two HomePod minis, leaving users unable to “mix and match” the two products.
According to the report, Apple is working on an update to the original HomePod to add many of the HomePod mini’s new features, including Intercom from one HomePod to another, multiuser support for Podcasts, support for third-party music services as they become available, and more.
HomePod mini is coming in white and space gray, with pre-orders commencing on Friday, November 6, with availability beginning the week of November 16.
