Apple lowers price of EarPods from $29 to $19
Apple has lowered the price of its wired EarPods from $29 to $19 following their removal from the box of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
EarPods have long been rumored to be abolished from the box of the iPhone, with Apple also removing the power adapter from its new models to leave the USB-C to Lightning Cable as the only accessory that comes bundled with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
As well as reducing the price of its EarPods, Apple has also lowered the price of USB-C power adapter, introducing a 20W adapter priced at $19, compared to the previous 18W adapter Apple sold at $29.
According to Lisa Jackson, Apple’s environmental chief, by removing the accessories form the box of the iPhone, Apple is able to get 70% more products on one shipping pallet, helping reduce carbon emissions as the company works towards its goal to have net zero climate impact across the entire business, which includes manufacturing supply chains and all product life cycles by 2030.
