Apple touts App Store benefits for customers and developers in new webpage
Apple has launched a new online campaign touting the App Store’s benefits for customers and developers, revealing Apple has over 1.8 million apps available worldwide and has paid developers over $155 billion since launching the App Store in 2008.
The new campaign has launched amid growing criticism over Apple’s App Store practices and the terms developers adhere to part of the Apple Developer Program.
Apple says “For over a decade, the App Store has proved to be a safe and trusted place to discover and download apps. But the App Store is more than just a storefront — it’s an innovative destination focused on bringing you amazing experiences.”
On a new page online, Apple says it has rejected over 150K App Store submissions last year for violating privacy guidelines, reiterating that each and every app is manually reviewed to ensure it is compliant with Apple’s guidelines.
Apple is committed to helping developers turn their brightest ideas into apps that change the world. That’s why the App Store helps you from start to finish — to build, test, market, and distribute your products and grow your business. Our marketplace is secure, trusted, and accessible — connecting you to over 1.5 billion devices in 175 regions. The App Store and you. Together every step of the way.
Apple points out that research suggests the App Store ecosystem facilitated over half a trillion dollars in commerce globally in 2019 alone, with apps selling physical goods and services generating over $413 billion from sales made through apps running on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS.
