Apple not including power adapter with new Apple Watch models
Apple today unveiled the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, and confirmed within an update to Apple.com, the new wearables will ship without power adapters in the box for the first time, something also expected to happen with this year’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.
The new models will now only come bundled with a 1m Magnetic Charging Cable without the charging brick that is required to charge the wearable from a power outlet, with customers requiring a charger having to pay $19 extra to purchase one separately.
Apple declared earlier this year that it plans to make its entire supply-chain 100% carbon neutral by 2030. By eliminating the power adapter from the box of the Apple Watch and requiring customers to purchase one separately, Apple is hoping customers will instead reuse old adapters they have either bought or received with other products previously, cutting manufacturing and waste materials.
