iPhone SE launch helped iPhone revenue grow 2% in Q3 2020
Apple has praised this year’s new iPhone SE as a key factor in achieving better than expected iPhone revenue in Q3 2020, touting a strong iPhone SE launch that helped Apple net $26.4 billion for iPhone sales in the third financial quarter.
It was confirmed that company expected to see a year over year iPhone performance decrease this quarter, with Apple CEO Tim Cook saying demand for the iPhone increased in May and June, which Cook attributed to the “very successful” release of the low-cost device that helped boost overall iPhone sales, with the iPhone 11 continuing to be the best selling iPhone in the lineup.
The iPhone SE was released in April amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, featuring a 4.7-inch LCD display, Touch ID home button, A13 Bionic chip, and up to 256GB of storage, priced from $399.
The announcement was made as part of Apple’s Q3 2020 financial earnings results today, which saw the company report quarterly revenue of $59.7 billion, an increase of 11 percent from the year-ago quarter.
