macOS Big Sur beta 3 replaces ‘hideous’ battery icon
Apple has released macOS Big Sur beta 3 to developers today, and one very welcomed addition in the beta is a replacement to the ‘hideous’ battery icon used as part of the new “Energy Saver” section of System Preferences.
macOS Big Sur was previewed to the world last month at WWDC20, featuring an all-new design, the biggest Safari update ever, improvements to Maps and Messages, and much more.
As soon as the early seed of the software was released to developers to begin beta testing, users were quick to discover a new battery icon in System Preferences which was largely criticised as being ‘ugly’ and unlike the rest of the system. Today, Apple has addressed the negative feedback by redesigning the icon in an effort to try and win the hearts of critics, with a more realistic looking battery with a more conventional look.
