Apple TV+’s ‘The Morning Show’ midway through episode 1 of season 2 when COVID-19 shut down filming
The cast of Apple TV+’s ‘The Morning Show’ were midway through filming episode 1 of season 2 when shooting was suspended due to COVID-19, according to director Mimi Leder who spoke in a Panel Discussion with the show’s stars last week.
During the discussion, which saw key cast such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Weatherspoon and Billy Crudup discuss the roles of their characters in the show, host Jess Cagle asked show director Mimi Leder about the impact COVID-19 has had on production of season 2 of the series, with Leder revealing the team were half way through filming the first episode of the new season when filming was shut down.
When asked what is happening right now with the show, Leder said writers are working remotely on season 2, adding that filming will continue into 2021.
We were in the middle of shooting the first episode when we shut down. And, you know, we are working all the COVID protocols and figuring out how to go back to work safely. And that’s what we’re in the middle of doing and fine tuning our scripts.
It is believed filming stopped at the beginning of March.
Nominated for three Golden Globes, ‘The Morning Show’ was Apple’s flagship Apple TV+ drama, exploring the lives of news anchors navigating crises in both their personal and professional lives. You can watch the Panel Discussion below.
