Apple pays tribute to the late John Lewis
Apple is paying tribute to civil rights activist and Democratic congressman John Lewis, who passed away this weekend at age 80 after suffering from pancreatic cancer.
To honour his passing, Apple has shared a full-page tribute on its American webpage, showing a picture of Lewis alongside one of his quotes, reading “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
Apple CEO Tim Cook had become friendly with Lewis over recent years, with the former congressman getting a private tour of Apple’s Infinite Loop campus by Cook in 2015, with Lewis applauding Cook for making TIME’s 100 most influential people list saying “It could not have been easy for Tim Cook to step into the immense shadow cast by the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs. But with grace and courage and an unabashed willingness to be his own man, Tim has pushed Apple to unimaginable profitability—and greater social responsibility.”
Apple TV+ aired a new documentary earlier this month entitled “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” with the director chronicling his more than 60 years of activism.
