New 14-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED display entering production in early 2021
Apple is expected to send its rumored all-new 14-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED display into production starting in early 2021, according to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce.
While the report doesn’t share many details around the new machine, it is possible the new Mac could be one of the first MacBook models to be upgraded from Intel to custom-designed Apple Silicone processors, potentially launching alongside an updated 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Earlier reports have claimed the 14-inch MacBook Pro will replace the current 13-inch model, similar to how the current 16-inch MacBook Pro replaced the previous 15-inch model, with multiple sources claiming Apple will introduce a new mini-LED display that offers a wide color gamut performance, high contrast and HDR, and local dimming – a technology that dims the backlight behind areas of the screen that are displaying black while keeping the bright parts of the screen bright.
The MacBook Pro will be one of six new products featuring mini-LED displays, with today’s report claiming Apple will release a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display in the first quarter of next year.
