App Store preventing users from installing latest Apple Developer update
Developers are reporting an issue with the App Store that is preventing the latest Apple Developer app update from being installed on iPhone and iPad, with users seeing a message warning the app cannot be updated “because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID.”
After Apple released its Developer app on the Mac App Store for the first time earlier this week, version 8.2.1 of the iOS app brings a redesigned Discover tab with news, videos and developer content, the option to favourite articles and video sessions, an updated WWDC tab in preparation of next week’s conference and more.
Similar to how an iCloud Family Sharing bug left some unable to open apps last month, users trying to download the new Apple Developer app are facing a similar issue, but in this case it appears the App Store is blocking users from installing the update, with a message reading “Cannot Update App – Apple Developer cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID,” stopping users from moving forward.
Verified by The Apple Post, the issue appears only to be stopping the Apple Developer app from being updated, with the rest of the Updates queue installing without fault.
