Apple discounts Powerbeats Pro and Beats Solo Pro
Apple has launched a rare special promotion for customers purchasing Powerbeats Pro, Beats Solo Pro and Powerbeats headphones in the US, offering savings of up to $70 amid rumors of new Beats-style Apple “AirPods Studio” over-ear headphones being unveiled later this month at WWDC.
While we have seen similar discounts in the past, it certainly isn’t something that happens often. The special promotion sees the Beats Solo Pro Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones discounted from $299.95 to $229.95 offering a $70.00 discount, and the Powerbeats Pro – Totally Wireless Earphones discounted to $199.95 from $249.95, reflecting a $50.00 saving.
Lastly, the Powerbeats High-Performance Wireless Earphones have been marked down from $149.95 to $129.95 to offer a $20.00 saving.
This could be a move to begin reducing inventory of the rumored new “AirPods Studio” headphones expected to be available to purchase later this year, similar to how Apple launched an internal promotion last month that saw the price of HomePod cut in half to $149.50, down from $299 for employees, as the company is said to be preparing a second-generation speaker.
Reports have long suggested Apple is developing a pair of Beats-style over-ear headphones, with prominent leaker Jon Prosser suggesting Apple will price them at $349 with the aim of eventually phasing the Beats lineup out and replacing them with new Apple-branded headphones.
Prosser has claimed that the wireless headphones will be a direct competitor to high-end noise-canceling over-ear headphones from the likes of Sony, with rumors claiming they may have interchangeable components, similar to the various bands available for the Apple Watch.
