Hive has added HomeKit support to its line of existing smart home products, including Hive Active Heating, all Hive Lights and Hive Active Plugs, allowing users to control the accessories using the Home app and with Siri.

UK based Hive, part of heating giant British Gas, quietly announced HomeKit compatibility last week in an update to its webpage, first spotted by iMore. Users require the latest Hive Hub or the Hub 360, both of which can be updated to version 10.28.0 of the software via the Hive app, to get started.

Upon updating to version 10.28.0 of the software, users will see a new HomeKit option with instructions shown in the Hive app when tapping Install Devices.

Hive announced in early 2019 that HomeKit support was in development, at the time citing “several technical challenges” which subsequently delayed the release of compatibility until now.
