Apple’s new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro is now available to order
Apple has officially released the all-new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, with customers able to order the keyboard now on Apple.com ahead of deliveries beginning next week.
The accessory, which features a unique floating design, backlit keyboard and a built-in trackpad, was first previewed alongside the release of Apple’s updated iPad Pro in March. It is priced at $299 for the 11‑inch iPad Pro, and $349 for the larger 12.9-inch model.
The new Magic Keyboard has a floating cantilever design, as Apple describes it, allowing you to attach the iPad Pro magnetically and to smoothly adjust the viewing angle, similar to how users can adjust the position of the Pro Display XDR for the Mac Pro.
Everything you need to know about Apple’s new Magic Keyboard…
Apple’s new Magic Keyboard is compatible with not just the latest 2020 iPad Pro models, Apple states it is backwards compatible with the 2018 iPad Pro models, the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) and the iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation) and will include layouts for over 30 languages.
The built-in trackpad means iPad Pro is gaining the ability for a mouse curser. Apple software VP Craig Federighi demonstrated the new curser capabilities coming to iPadOS 13.4, showing how the pointer, which is a small circular shape, will only appear when you need it, and will dynamically change shape dependant on what it is hovering over.
As well as basic clicking and pointing, the Magic Keyboard allow users to perform some familiar gestures, although it won’t work exactly like the Mac.
