Apple producing face shields for healthcare professionals, shipping 1 million per-week
Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed that through its supply chain, Apple has sourced over 20 million masks that will be donated to medical professionals worldwide. Additionally, Cook has said Apple has designed and produced custom face shields that will ship at the rate of 1 million per-week.
Cook’s announcement confirms that in just over a week, Apple has been able to source an additional 10 million masks that it will ship to medical facilities across the globe.
Within the video, shared from his home in Palo Alto, Cook quickly showed the new Apple-designed face shields. The plastic shields pack 100 to a box, with an adjustable strap on the rear. The first shipment was sent to Kaiser hospital facilities in Santa Clara, with Cook adding that the feedback from doctors was “very positive.”

The face shields use materials sourced in the US, with assembly in China.
