Apple aiming to launch iPhone 9 in April, according to Jon Prosser
Apple is aiming to launch its much- rumored low-cost iPhone on April 15, according to YouTuber Jon Prosser, who claims to have received intel from Apple insiders about the launch of the new hardware.
Prosser says that while “things could change,” Apple allegedly held a briefing with employees on Monday to discuss the launch of the new device, with the company said to be eyeballing Wednesday, April 15 as its launch date, likely with shipments commencing a week later on April 22.
The report follows after Best Buy employees shared images this morning of new iPhone cases arriving in-store for the forthcoming device, claiming the accessories are supposed to be put on store shelves as of April 5, suggesting we may see an iPhone 9/iPhone SE 2 launch as soon as this week.
In recent reports, Prosser has also claimed Apple’s line of 2020 5G iPhone models could be delayed, and that engineers are continuing to work on AirPower, the failed wireless charging project Apple canceled last year.
Roundup: Apple is expected to release two new low-cost iPhone models in the coming weeks, featuring 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch LCD displays. Reports claim the new devices will look almost identical to the iPhone 8, using Touch ID rather than Face ID and one single rear camera. The device is said to use modern internals such as the A13 processor and will be priced from $399, available in both 64GB and 128GB versions in silver, space gray and red.
