iPhone 12 release could be delayed by a month, claims analysts
Apple may be forced to push the release of its upcoming 5G iPhone 12 line by “a few months,” according to Bank of America analysts forecasting the effects of the production delays in China caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
Within its report shared by Bloomberg, the analysts also note how the upcoming rumored new low-cost iPhone, dubbed the “iPhone SE 2” could also see its launch “depend on how production ramps back up in April and May.”, speculating the device may not launch later this month as widely expected.
The report comes as Apple warned investors last month it does not expect to meet the revenue guidance it provided for the March quarter due to supply constraints and poor sales performance in China, backtracking on its previous forecasts for second quarter revenues which it had hoped to be in the $63 billion to $67 billion range, saying the company now doesn’t expect to hit even the lower-end of that scale.
Apple’s 5G iPhone line, expected to comprise of four new models, would typically be announced in September if the company were to follow its usual launch schedule. Bank of America speculate the release may now be delayed by a month this fall.
It remains to be seen how big of an impact the coronavirus outbreak will have on Apple’s supply chain and product roadmap.
