Apple cancelling SXSW 2020 attendance over coronavirus concerns
Apple is pulling out of the SXSW 2020 festival where the company had planned to premiere new original content coming to Apple TV+, according to Variety.
As concerns heighten over the spread of the coronavirus, Apple is following in the footsteps of Amazon Studios, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Panasonic, SAP, and Intel by cancelling its attendance at the festival, which typically attracts more than 100,000 people from around the world.
Apple shared plans earlier in the year to unveil new AppleTV+ originals including “Home,” “Central Park,” and “Beastie Boys Story” and the festival as well as hosting a “Little America” discussion panel with series creators Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon.
SXSW 2020 will still go-ahead despite the large number of attendees pulling out. The news comes as rumors speculate whether Apple will cancel its annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is typically held in June.
