‘AirPods X Generation’ priced at $399 appear in Target inventory systems
Target employees have been sharing images of their in-store inventory systems which show an unreleased AirPods version, hinting that Apple may soon launch its rumored new over-ear headphones during the first half of this year.
In the image, which can be seen below courtesy of YouTuber Jon Prosser, Target’s inventory system shows something referred to as “Apple AirPods (X Generation)” with a $399.99 price tag, considerably higher than the current high-end AirPods Pro at $249.
According to Target staff speaking with AppleInsider, “placeholders for new products are common” and pricing information is usually accurate, suggesting that the new headphones won’t be called the “AirPods (X Generation)” at launch, but will likely be a full $150 more than the current AirPods Pro.
Apple has long been rumored to be working on premium Beats-style over-ear headphones. The Apple Post has shared exclusive concepts which imagine the new addition to Apple’s audio line-up.
Leading industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed in January that Apple would unveil its high-end Bluetooth headphones sometime during the first half of this year.
