Apple gradually reopening Chinese retail stores, many still remain closed
Apple is reopening 10 retail stores in China today following a country-wide shutdown on the advice of health officials in an effort to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus aggressively through China and beyond.
According to iMore, a total of 10 Apple Store locations in China will operate limited hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., or 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time until further notice, with many stores outside of Beijing remaining closed without any indication as to when they’ll reopen.
Last week, Apple reopened five stores in Beijing. Within a leaked memo to Apple Store employees, Apple retail chief Deirdre O’Brien said the company would offer its employees store-specific reopening information and that Apple will offer hand sanitisation stations for customers and that employees will be asked to clean display devices more frequently with specialist cleaning products.
