iPhone suppliers aiming to resume production by February 10 despite coronavirus outbreak
Apple’s main supplier Foxconn aims to resume full-scale production in China on February 10 despite being ordered to halt “almost all” of its production as a result of the deadly coronavirus outbreak.
Foxconn, amongst other key suppliers Quanta Computer Inc., Inventec Corp. and LG Display Co. also said they would go back to work next week when Apple will reopens its retail stores and corporate offices in mainland China after closing on the advice of health professionals.
It was reported that the outbreak is having a “fairly small impact” on iPhone production amid rumors that Apple will unveil an all-new low-cost ‘iPhone 9’ next month, although a prolonged closure of factories could lead to “big” problems, according to Reuters.
Today’s report from Bloomberg says Foxconn is hopeful to be able to restart facilities throughout China on schedule.
Foxconn’s Hon Hai, the most important manufacturer for the U.S. company, said Tuesday it still expects to be able to restart facilities throughout China on schedule, according to a text message sent to Bloomberg News. Suppliers such as Quanta Computer Inc., Inventec Corp. and LG Display Co. also said they would go back to work next week in China.
