Apple rumored to remove charging port from 2021 iPhone, relying completely on wireless
Apple could remove the charging port from the iPhone in 2021, according to a new report.
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed the 2021 iPhone model will rely solely on wireless charging and data syncing, removing the charging port from the bottom of the device, presumably allowing Apple to increase battery size, save space internally and could allow for improved water and dust resistance.
According to Kuo, the 2021 iPhone will “provide the completely wireless experience”, getting close to the dream of former Apple chief design officer who previously painted the picture of an iPhone designed like ‘a single sheet of glass,’. The port-less iPhone model will be one of two models launching in 2021, according to Kuo.
Kuo claims Apple will release five new iPhone models in 2020, all of which will retain the charging port.
