Mac Pro wheels cost $400, top machine configuration priced over $52,000
Apple has released its highly anticipated, highly priced Mac Pro.
When the machine was unveiled earlier in the year, Apple touted customers would be able to add wheels to their Mac to move the cheese grater-style stainless steel computer “quickly and easily without having to lift it.”
Now, Apple has revealed the cost for this upgrade, charging customers an additional $400 to add wheels to the machine which is priced from $5,999 for the entry-level model.
“Customize your Mac Pro to have a stainless steel frame with wheels, which is ideal for moving your Mac Pro quickly and easily without having to lift it,” says Apple online. “Configuring your Mac Pro with wheels makes it about an inch taller than the frame with feet.”
During its unveiling, the audience laughed at Apple when it announced the stand for the all-new Pro Display XDR would cost $999, giving those purchasing the $4,999 Pro Display little option but to upgrade their purchase to include the stand, taking their total for the display alone to $5,998.
For those wanting to push their new Mac Pro to the max, Apple offers tech spec upgrades which take the machine, its wheels and all available accessories too over $52,000 in the United States.
