Apple TV+ gains its first award nomination for ‘The Morning Show’
Since Apple launched its new streaming service, Apple TV +, The Morning Show was one of the inaugural shows that launched alongside it. It boasts stars such as Jenifer Aniston, Steve Carrell and Reese Witherspoon.
It documents the behind the scenes drama of the traditional morning show format widely used in the US mainly. It follows the aftermath of one of its main co-anchors, Mitch Kesslers sexual misconduct claims.
Now, less than two months after its official launch, it has received its first award nomination from The Critics Choice Association. The nomination goes to Billy Crudup for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama, as the character ‘Cory Ellison’.
He is going against Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and Asante Blackk from the show This is Us.
The rest of the nominations were dominated by Apple TV+ rivals Netflix, with 61 nominations, 14 for The Irishman alone. Other streaming services included in the nominations include Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and CBS All Access. There are other potential awards Apple could possibly get nominations within, such as The Golden Globes, who will announce nominations on December 9th.
The Morning Show can be streamed via the Apple TV app with the Apple TV + subscription.
