Apple expected to sell as many as 100 million iPhone 12 units in 2020
With thoughts turning to the year ahead, Apple is predicted to sell as many as 100 million iPhone 12 units in 2020 thanks to high demand for the device’s new 5G features, according to a new report published by Digitimes.
According to sources, Apple is reportedly prepping manufacturing partners to produce 20 million more iPhone 12 units than it has done for this year’s iPhone 11 line-up, suggesting Apple forecasts strong demand for the rumoured hardware upgrades and 5G connectivity Apple’s recent iPhone releases have lacked.
So far it looks as if next year’s iPhone will look similar to the iPhone 4 with “a more complex segmentation design, new trenching and injection molding procedures, and sapphire or glass cover assembly to protect the trench injection molding structure.”
Despite the fact 5G support on the iPhone 12 may increase the price of the device, Apple seems confident customers will be willing to pay a premium for the latest cellular technology. 2020 is set to be the year of 5G in the smartphone industry, and it will likely be a key selling point for next year’s flagship iPhone 12.
