Pricing glitch sees retailer mistakenly sell iPad at £4
U.K. based electronics retailer Currys PC World caused a frenzy on Friday when a pricing glitch saw Apple’s £289 9.7-inch iPad slashed to £4.
When the code ‘FREECASE’ was applied online, shoppers were able to successfully purchase the 2018 23GB iPad model for almost 99 per cent off its intended retail price.
In line with its terms, Currys PC World said within a statement that it will not honour any pricing errors, with the retailer quickly pulling the iPad from its online store and cancelling all orders – although some customers have still been charged.
Shoppers took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
@panzapanda wrote: “I get that I was probably never going to get the £5 Ipad, but FFS they could at least have the decency to email me. The only reason I know it has been cancelled is due to having checked DPD. Thoroughly disappointed in Currys. Thoroughly disappointed.”
