Apple releases new HomePod 13.2 software update, including Handoff features, voice profiles and more
Alongside the release of iOS 13.2, Apple is rolling out HomePod 13.2 which adds a wide range of new features to the Siri-enabled speaker, including multiple user support, Handoff, sleep timers to fall asleep to music or Ambient Sounds and more.
Handoff, one of the flagship features of the new HomePod update allows users to seamlessly transfer songs, podcasts and phone calls from an iPhone to a HomePod by simply holding the device close to the speaker. As simple as it sounds, a user can hover their iPhone close to any HomePod around the house to transfer the song from their device to the Siri-enabled smart speaker.
Multi-user mode allows the HomePod to recognize up to six different voices in the home, accessing each user’s individual music library and adding the ability to perform Personal Requests such as sending messages or reading calendars.
The software update brings a new Ambient Sounds feature that lets you play relaxing soundtracks like rain falling, nature sounds, white noise, and more, plus you can set sleep timers to fall asleep to these new Ambient Sounds or to music.
