Apple releases iOS 12.4.2 for older iPhone and iPad models
Apple has released iOS 12.4.2 for older iPhone and iPad models, including the original iPad Air, the iPad mini 2, the iPad mini 3, the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and sixth-generation iPod touch, all of which are not compatible with iOS 13.
The update is described as providing “important security updates” recommended for all users, although Apple doesn’t specifically note what vulnerability the update fixes. – A new security support document is available following the release of the update, suggesting today’s update addresses a bug that could allow a remote attacker to case unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.
iOS 12.4.2 is available now as an update in the Settings app for compatible devices.
Update: Apple has also released a watchOS 5.3.2 update for the Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch Series 2, alongside a second supplemental update for macOS Mojave 10.14.6.
