Apple Watch Series 5 uses same processor as previous-gen Apple Watch Series 4
Apple announced the next-generation Apple Watch Series 5 last week, featuring a new always-on Retina display that allows watch wearers to check the time and view Apple Watch complications without needing to raise their wrist, a built-in compass, new casing options and more.
Ahead of the wearable’s release tomorrow, Xcode has revealed that the new Apple Watch Series 5 uses the same processor seen in the previous-gen Apple Watch Series 4.
Discovered by developer Steve Troughton-Smith on Twitter, the Apple Watch Series 5 will offer the same CPU performance offered in last year’s Apple Watch Series 4.
All along, it had been rumored that Apple’s 2019 update to the Apple Watch would be minor, so the lack of a new processor compared to the previous-generation isn’t that shocking, and would explain why Apple has now stopped offering the Apple Watch Series 4, giving customers the option between the Apple Watch Series 3 or the Apple Watch Series 5.
