Purported internal Apple document claims to offer iOS 13 and iPhone 11 release information
Update: The source has confirmed that the document shared earlier today and the information it contained was indeed false.
A supposedly leaked internal document intended for the eyes of Apple’s engineering team, retail employees and contractors has revealed a large quantity of secret insider information, such as the official release date for iOS 13, release timelines of new iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad models, and more.
The document, initially obtained exclusively by Twitter account ‘AppleBeta2019’ has been made publicly available on document sharing site DocDroid, claims Apple will announce three new iPhones this fall, dubbed “iPhone 11,” “iPhone 11 Pro” and “iPhone 11 Pro Max”, corresponding with previous rumors, and that the new handsets are said to ship with iOS 13.1.0 standard, a beta version of which was seeded for testing last week.
The purported September newsletter, titled “Apple Software Development Resources,” claims four new Apple Watch models will be announced during the highly-anticipated ‘By innovation only’ event on September 10, and that alongside iOS 13, Apple will publicly release macOS 10.15 Catalina, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6 and tvOS 13 on Monday, September 23rd.
Further in the 10 page PDF, it is reported that iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 will be released in October, alongside new iPad hardware, and that beta testing for iOS 13.3 will begin the following month in November.
At first glance the document may appear to be authentic, but the so-called “leak” has been met with criticism. Inconsistencies such as the document referring to Apple’s “developer program” as the “development program,” and an odd mixture of referring to devices by their marketing names, such as iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, and then their internal model numbers is causing scepticism.
Additionally, it has been noted that the copyright information on the footer of the document is incorrect compared to previous memos distributed by Apple.
