Apple filings reveal 7 unreleased MacBook models in Eurasian Database
Apple has registered 7 unreleased MacBook models in the Eurasian Economic Commission database, suggesting new Mac hardware is on the horizon.
As discovered by MacRumors, the filings describe the new hardware as “portable” computers, given the model identifiers A2141, A2147, A2158, A2159, A2179, A2182, and A2251 which don’t correspond with any current MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro.
The database, which companies are legally required to list encrypted devices sold or due to be sold in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, has a proven track record of showing new Apple hardware months before their official release.
In January, the database revealed Apple’s unreleased iPad Air and updated iPad mini 5 prior to their launch in March, as well as previously showing the iPhone 7, Apple Watch Series 2, AirPods, and more. Most recently, the database revealed Apple has registered eleven new iPhone models, likely Apple’s 5.8 and 6.5-inch iPhone XS and XS Max successors, dubbed the iPhone XI and iPhone XI Max, in addition to Apple’s updated iPhone XR.
Apple is rumored to be working on an all-new 16-inch MacBook Pro, though very little is known about what new capabilities the machine will have. In addition to this, Apple’s 12-inch MacBook is overdue an update, and it wouldn’t be so hard to imagine an update to the MacBook Air is in the pipeline too.
